GROWTH, a New Future in Evidence-based Medicine Collaborations
Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) June 05, 2014 -- With today’s launch, the Guideline and Research Organizations Worldwide for Transparency & Harmonization (GROWTH) program, Doctor Evidence, LLC (DRE) provides Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) organizations with the tools to revitalize the field of clinical practice guideline (CPG) development. Already known for its Digital Outcome Conversion (DOC™) technology platforms, DRE’s new offerings focus on the standards set forth by the Institute of Medicine1,2 in 2011 and the Guidelines International Network3 (G-I-N) in 2012. The GROWTH program is comprised of four unique but interrelated offerings: The GROWTH Network, the GROWTH Patient Network, the GROWTH Collaborative, and the GROWTH Map.
“Doctor Evidence has long sought to help EBM organizations to create systematic reviews, health technology assessments, and guidelines with increased efficiency and methodological quality based on the scientific evidence,” said Robert Battista, CEO and co-founder of Doctor Evidence. “Now the focus broadens to promoting collaborations among guideline developers and sharing information and resources among these organizations worldwide. The GROWTH program is rooted in corporate social responsibility in that it unites healthcare stakeholders around patient-centered outcomes and transparency of how clinical recommendations are derived.”
The GROWTH Network is an alliance of EBM groups that seek to achieve the IOM’s stated guidance to “globalize the quality of an evidence review” while being able to “localize the recommendation.” GROWTH Network members use the Doctor Evidence platforms for evidence syntheses leading to guideline development. This peer-to-peer best practice forum facilitates sharing of digitized data, methodologies, and resources.
The GROWTH Patient Network is a union of patient advocacy organizations and individuals interested in EBM. The GROWTH program will facilitate interactions between members of both networks to influence the development of EBM content to include the perspectives of patients, caregivers, and patient advocates. GROWTH events will be planned in conjunction with major EBM conferences, including the annual Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) conference, which DRE is sponsoring in Melbourne, Australia in August 2014, and G-I-N North America conferences.
The GROWTH Collaborative is designed to lend greater transparency and communication to the practice of EBM. Through the GROWTH Collaborative, the life sciences industries can gain insights into guideline development methods, evidence gaps, and the research needed to improve and strengthen clinical recommendations based on high-quality evidence. The GROWTH Collaborative will generate Scientific Evaluation Reports that will provide a means for all stakeholders to learn from each other through the safe harbor environment of the Collaborative.
The GROWTH Map is an interactive map of influential EBM organizations worldwide. This project is designed to connect organizations specializing in guideline development and implementation, systematic reviews, health technology assessments, and quality improvement. Users will be able to locate EBM organizations, key contact information, and a detailed profile of each organization. Using advanced search capabilities, users will be able to segment organizations that are focused on specific topics of interest, view guideline topics in progress, and see key affiliations among EBM organizations.
