Gubernatorial Debate Scheduled 3rd Week in October in Buffalo
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 01, 2014 -- Michael McDermott, Libertarian Party candidate for New York State Governor, has accepted an invitation to debate the other accepted New York candidates at a debate sponsored by the Buffalo News to be held during the third week in October in Buffalo, NY.
Governor Cuomo (D, WF, IP, WEP), Howie Hawkins (GP) and Michael McDermott (LIB) have all agreed to the debate. According to Buffalo News on September 27, 2014 Astorino (R, C, SCC) has not yet agreed.
Candidate Michael McDermott, when asked about the debate and Astorino's failure to agree so far, commented, "The people of New York have spoken with tens of thousands of signatures and they have said they want more of a choice than just Democrats and Republicans. The candidates should respect the will of the voters and agree to debate among all the candidates that have earned a place on the ballot. "
The Libertarian Candidate is touring the state this month, starting with walking Atlantic Antic Street Fair in Brooklyn this past Sunday, appearing on Utica's WUTQ radio tomorrow morning at 7:30AM, attending the "Meet The Candidates" night at the Community Place in Rochester the evening of October 14, appearing for a radio/television interview on October 15 at WXXI in Rochester, and also appearing on Ed Fertik's "The Right Opinion" radio show in Hudson, NY, near Albany on October 22.
As one of Michael McDermott's staff, Bob Schuon, remarked, "There has been a huge growth in libertarian ideas and principles throughout the state, and the reason for that is that the Libertarian Party is the only party to promote individual freedom, liberty, and abiding by our shared Constitution, as written by the founders of our great nation. We need to let the Free Market work, without the heavy hand of the State interfering, in the name of 'helping'.
