Gulf Coast Educators Insurance Announces Auto Insurance Policy Benefits Associated With Florida’s New Law That Bans Texting and Driving
Naples, Florida (PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- Gulf Coast Educators Insurance, a Horace Mann Company, announces auto insurance benefits when drivers abide by the new Florida law that bans texting and driving. On October 1, 2013 Florida legislatures passed a bill that prohibits texting and driving in Florida.
“Drivers will maintain their Florida auto insurance policy year after year if they will abide by this new law and put the phone down. Many Florida drivers don’t realize they can be dropped from their auto insurance provider if they have too many accidents or tickets. Texting and driving is often the culprit of many auto accidents. According to the National Safety Council 1.6 million accidents happen per year due to texting and driving and nearly 25% of all car accidents are also blamed on texting and driving. Drivers don’t realize the impact one short text can have on their driving. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration says texting and driving is the same as driving after 4 beers. Every year we see insurance premiums go through the roof for some Florida insurance policy holders due to accidents they personally have had or from accidents of others on their policy” explains Ron DeFreitas.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration also reports that texting and driving makes drivers twenty-three times more likely to crash. The Human Factors & Ergonomics Society found that texting and driving slows a driver’s brake speed reaction by 18%.
Gulf Coast Educators Insurance agents work with Florida residents to offer a variety of discounts available for auto insurance policies. DeFreitas adds “There are several variables that can affect an auto insurance policy in Florida. The same is true for a home and property insurance policy. Our insurance agents offer face to face meetings with our clients and interested Floridians to review their driving history, what kind of car they drive, how many miles a year they drive, who else in the household will need to be on the auto insurance policy and how their driving record is. We always recommend that parents exercise caution with their young drivers and don’t buy the newest car on the lot. Second hand vehicles are perfectly fine for a new driver as long as it is reliable.”
Gulf Coast Educators Insurance has three offices centrally located in Southwest Florida including Naples, Ft. Myers and Port Charlotte. The Ft. Myers office is the newest addition to DeFreitas’ Florida insurance group. Florida residents can purchase a variety of auto insurance policies through Gulf Coast Educators insurance including car insurance, truck insurance, motorcycle insurance, golf cart insurance, motorhome insurance, trailer insurance and boat insurance. Other Florida residents rely on Gulf Coast Educators Insurance for home and property insurance. Those who do not own a home but are in need of renter’s insurance can call Gulf Coast Educators Insurance at any of their three offices in Southwest Florida.
Ron DeFreitas has owned Gulf Coast Educators Insurance for over four years. His insurance offices are open Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm EST. Florida residents can contact any of the Gulf Coast Educators Insurance agents for answers to questions about living in Florida only part of the year and carrying insurance on a home, property, car, motorcycle or boat.
“Often we are asked how an auto insurance policy or a homeowners insurance policy will be written if the policy holder lives in Florida only half the year. We do work with many “snow birds” who reside in Florida only seasonally. We do encourage Floridians to come to one of our three Florida insurance offices for a scheduled appointment so that we can discuss the insurance options that will best meet their needs. Insurance can be complex especially as it relates to home and property insurance as many people live on the waterfront so they have to consider a Florida flood insurance policy as well” states DeFreitas.
