Gundaker Construction and Restoration Group Enlisted for Major Roof Replacement Project
Chesterfield, MO (PRWEB) May 28, 2015 -- The commercial and residential roof replacement and repair specialists at Gundaker Construction and Restoration Group will soon get to work on replacing the roof on a shopping center in St. Francois County. The shopping center requires a new roof after experiencing significant hail damage from a recent storm.
Depending on how long negotiations take between the building owner and the insurance company, the project is slated to begin within the next two to three weeks, says Mike Kossman, Managing Partner. Once started, the work will take one to two weeks to complete.
The ownership of this commercial property asked Gundaker Construction and Restoration Group to complete this job after seeing the company's high-quality work in action on a high net worth residential project, according to Kossman.
"A different contractor was working on the claim until the owner of the building -- who happened to be one of our clients for an insurance claim on his personal home -- asked us to take over the commercial claim because he was unhappy with what the previous contractor was doing," Kossman explains.
Once Gundaker Construction & Restoration Group took over the project, they discovered a number of problems with the building's roof that weren't observed in the insurance company's original inspection of the damage.
"When we took over the claim, it only called for a small patch repair -- but after we took a look, we realized we needed to perform a full replacement of the roof," Kossman says. "The insurance company had missed a lot of things. The air conditioning units were damaged, the stucco was damaged and the gutters and down spouts were damaged. Above all, we want to make sure they don’t miss anything, that everything is properly done and that enough money is provided to get the project done."
The shopping center's roof is a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roof; since building codes have changed since the building was first constructed, Gundaker Construction and Restoration Group will be following the most up-to-date guidelines to install a new TPO roof.
"From the time the roof was originally put on until now, the building codes have changed," Kossman says. "As a result, we have to put a different underlayment down, along with an isoboard, which is a thicker type of insulation. Different widths of isoboard give it different R-value insulation."
Because commercial roofing is a competitive field, Kossman says this job -- Gundaker Construction & Restoration Group's largest TPO job to date -- will demonstrate the company's skill and lead to expanded work with commercial roofing.
"I think this job will help continue to put us on the map as far as commercial roofing goes," Kossman says. "It’s a good project and it’s a relatively large account. Finishing this project will show that we can handle the bigger, more complex insurance jobs as well as large commercial projects in general."
