Gung-Ho! Kicking Off Inaugural Season With Non-Traditional 5k Races
Liverpool, UK (PRWEB UK) 11 June 2015 -- Starting August 29 in Liverpool, Gung-Ho!, a traveling, non-traditional 5k race, will be setting up the first of its three 2015 UK races featuring inflatable obstacles. The events, happening in Liverpool, Newcastle, and London West, will all feature “The Thriller,” Europe’s largest inflatable slide. BBC personality Alex Winters will be the events’ host and commentator.
“I have been watching young kids have fun jumping around in ball pits and on bouncy castles at so many events that I have hosted over the years,” Winters said of his time hosting children’s programming with the BBC affiliate network, CBeebies. “You can’t help but smile as the kids go crazy for jumping around. Maybe I have never quite grown up but I started thinking, ‘Couldn’t adults have the same fun if we go the chance to jump and slide with the rest of them?’ With Gung-Ho! we have created the chance to do just that. It is a genuine 5k course but with some ridiculous obstacles en route. I can’t wait to have a go myself.”
Gung-Ho! is reminding its participants that their inflatable obstacles are not like those found at a child’s birthday party. “The Thriller,” their website cautions, “might be a bit of a challenge at the end of the course, but you are sure to scream with laughter on the way down and have fun all the way.”
After a staircase-like starting hill, participants will run through a giant ball pit, a foam pit, a climbing wall, and more before finishing with The Thriller.
Each event has a registration limit of 5,000 participants. In addition to the race, the events will include live DJs and food.
Liverpool’s race will take place on August 29 at the Aintree Racecourse. On September 19, Gung-Ho! will make its way to Newcastle racecourse in Gosforth, Newcastle, and the trilogy of events will finish with a race at London West’s Royal Windsor.
Gung-Ho! is currently offering intro and early bird discounts for all three races. Each will cost £35-£70. Spectator seating will be available for each day.
