H.E.L.P® Foundation Endows and Presents Second Annual Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Ovation Award
Philadelphia, Pa. (PRWEB) June 04, 2015 -- H.E.L.P.® Foundation is proud to announce its endowment and presentation of the Second Annual Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Ovation Award - for Inspiration and Outstanding Leadership in Music Education. The Ovation Award was bestowed upon legendary alto saxophonist, Anthony (Tony) Williams, founder and director of the Mount Airy Cultural Center, and 25-year music educator in the Philadelphia School District, at PYO’s 75th Annual Festival Concert at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on May 31. Williams and ten finalists received an award tribute and cash prizes from H.E.L.P.® Foundation. Other generous sponsors included J.W. Pepper, WRTI-FM, and Jacobs Music.
"We are delighted to have again endowed and presented the annual PYO Ovation Award,” stated Gary Frank, Chairman and CEO of Bala Cynwyd-based H.E.L.P.® Foundation and LCG, Ltd. “This honor is a long overdue recognition of the finest music educators throughout our tri-state region who devote themselves to inspiring youth and infusing their passion and commitment to the musical arts."
The Ovation Award is given each year to Delaware Valley teachers who have demonstrated excellence and influence in music education and have encouraged the minds, talents and achievements of aspiring musicians. Anyone of any age is permitted to nominate a music educator by submitting an application and short essay on the topic of, “How my music teacher has changed my life.” Nominees should have imparted musical skills and knowledge, but also impacted the student in other areas such as building character, confidence and achievement. A panel of accomplished representatives from major music organizations and departments from area universities determine the finalists and award winner.
“Our H.E.L.P.® Foundation was established to assist non-profit, community-focused endeavors, and we will continue to support and help recognize the deserving individuals who nurture the musical talents our local youth,” stated Frank.
