Harlow, Essex (PRWEB UK) 4 October 2013 -- Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK), the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard optometry and ophthalmic equipment, is pleased to announce the launch of the new Octopus 600 perimeter.

The Octopus 600 is Haag-Streit’s first TFT-based perimeter. This compact, standalone instrument runs White/White perimetry and the PULSAR method for early detection of glaucoma. It boasts a short test duration of just 2-4 minutes for a full threshold exam.

The Octopus 600 can be operated in just a few clicks by a junior assistant or receptionist. Its silent operation, with no fans or motors, enables you to place the perimeter anywhere in your office.

PULSAR is a patented flicker stimulus, showing a ring pattern with different contrast levels in counter phase. The Octopus 600’s new PULSAR functionality presents a contrast modulated ring target that flickers at 30 Hz in counter phase. It requires no more than a simple click for every target that appears.

The Octopus 600 performs standard white-on-white perimetry using modern TFT technology. By using adapted stimulus sizes it reaches the wide dynamic range associated with projection-type perimeters for long-term follow-up. Automated Eye Tracking (AET) recognises the position of the pupil and keeps the eye centred.
