Haag-Streit UK host successful ‘Improving Outcomes’ Biometry Courses in London
Harlow, Essex (PRWEB UK) 12 December 2014 -- Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK), the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard optometry and ophthalmic equipment, recently hosted the third in its series of ‘Improving Outcomes’ biometry courses. The two-day training event took place on the Thursday 4th and Friday 5th December at the Radisson Blu Hotel, London Stansted Airport.
Both courses included a mixture of practical workshops and presentations from experts in the field of biometry, including; Mr David Sculfor, Consultant Optometrist and Mr Larry Benjamin, Consultant Ophthalmologist, Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Each course offered 7.5 CPD points and agenda items included presentations on; ‘Introduction to Optical Biometry’, ‘Good Biometry Practice’, ‘Cataract & Refraction’, ‘Interpretation of Measurement Data’ and ‘Premier Channel IOLs’.
Both courses were hugely successful and similar to the recent Manchester-based courses the practical workshops proved extremely popular with attendees. Workshop topics included; ‘IOL Power Calculation Formula’, TORIC IOL Planning’, ‘Immersion Ultrasound’, ‘Adding & Editing IOL Data’ and an ‘Introduction to the T-cone’.
Delegates were given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, as well as network with other delegates to discuss new ideas and tips that can be implemented into their own clinical practice.
The LENSTAR LS 900 biometer was present throughout the two-days and hands-on demonstrations were available for delegates. The LENSTAR provides nine measurements per scan in fewer than 30 seconds, improving accuracy and accelerating workflow. The biometer offers more precise K readings than any other optical biometer and all standard IOL predictions are built in to the software.
Sam Laidlaw, HS-UK Product Manager for Biometry, said; “The London-based courses were hugely successful, feedback once again showed the hands-on workshops were a big hit with the delegates. The workshops provided attendees with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the LENSTAR biometer, as well as learn invaluable tips and advice from experts in the field of biometry.”
Due to the ongoing success of the ‘Improving Outcomes’ Biometry Courses, Haag-Streit UK has announced it will be hosting further courses in 2015. The first scheduled 2015 event will be held in Bristol on the 19th and 20th March. Speakers have been confirmed as; Mr David Sculfor, Consultant Optometrist at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Mr Guy Smith, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Great Weston Hospital.
