handSteady Celebrates International Day for Disabled People UK 3 December 2013 At House Of Commons with Rt Hon Hazel Blears
Kenilworth, UK (PRWEB UK) 28 November 2013 -- handSteady helps people with Disability who have difficulty holding and using an ordinary cup.
Unlike other cups, handSteady is the world's first and only cup with a rotatable handle. This enables Disabled People to hold it steady despite tremor, tilt it easily despite limited dexterity, and hold it upright using gravity even if the handle is held at an angle.
It was launched by British innovator Chris Peacock (35 years) in 2012, and has sold in 19 countries. It's now used daily by several hundred people to make drinking easier and has featured in BBC News, The Huffington Post, The Guardian, Discovery News, Forbes and Readers' Digest Canada.
Peacock created the product because one of his close family members has Parkinson's. He started working on it at the Royal College of Art when completing a Masters in Industrial Design. It was here that he won awards from Dyson, Help the Aged and Lord Snowdon for the innovation.
handSteady drinking aids are produced by a UK production firm based in West Sussex. Peacock then takes orders through the website http://www.handsteady.com and fulfils them through a warehouse in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.
In August 2013, handSteady Ltd started seeking distribution partners around the world and have 5 lined up for adding handSteady to their range in 2014.
The event at the House of Commons is to celebrate International Day for Disabled People in the UK. Peacock says, "I'm delighted to have been invited to this special event. Many people with disability have difficulty drinking with ordinary cups, an activity which is one of life's greatest pleasures. I look forward to increasing the visibility of handSteady in Parliament and amongst leading health innovators in the UK."
The event is organised by Really Useful Stuff and Experedon.
Guys and St Thomas' Charity are the financial commercial backers for the handSteady drinking aid with a rotatable handle and lid. Parkinson's UK, Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, the National Tremor Foundation and a number of other charities are referral partners for this important life changing product.
