Hannon Hill Releases Cascade Server 7.12.1 and 7.12.2, Now Supports IE11 and Introduces a New Locator Tool Query API
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 04, 2014 -- Hannon Hill recently announced two new patch releases for their flagship CMS, Cascade Server. Cascade Server is one of the most widely used content management systems in Higher Education, powering thousands of university websites. The latest releases include some new features, as well as some improvements to existing ones.
Cascade Server 7.12.1 introduces support for Internet Explorer 11, adds support for JSON, CSS, and JS page serialization types and includes improvements to the Scheduled Link Checker for checking links longer than 500 characters. As per Chris Woods’, from University of Ontario Institute of Technology, suggestion on the Cascade Server Idea Exchange, there is now an option to view workflows from across all of a user’s sites in the dashboard widget. With this release, Hannon Hill also reminded users that they’ve deprecated support for IE8 and will be discontinuing support for it in their next major release.
Cascade Server 7.12.2 added a new Query API which allows developers to load and filter assets programmatically based on a number of properties including metadata field values, asset type, site, assigned content type, and assigned metadata set. Results can be sorted by a particular property, limited to a maximum number, limited to only those that are publishable/indexable, and more. This feature is a continuation of Hannon Hill’s effort to allow developers to locate and load only the content they need rather than relying on large, and sometimes inefficient indexes for page rendering.
Another highly requested feature from the Cascade Server Idea Exchange that was added is the ability to publish "publish sets" and sites to specific destinations. Bradley Wagner, Hannon Hill’s VP of Engineering explains, “With 7.12.2 you can now configure exactly which destinations your content publishes to on a schedule or on-demand for both publishes of whole sites and publish sets."
These patch releases demonstrate Hannon Hill’s commitment to continuously improving their product, Cascade Server.
