Hapari and Sports Illustrated Stay Ahead of the Curve in Plus Size Fashion
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) February 09, 2015 -- Ashley Graham is making history and headlines as the first plus size model to be featured in Sports Illustrated’s annual swimsuit issue. The size 16 model makes her Sports Illustrated debut in an ad campaign for plus size bikinis.
“I know my curves are sexy and I want everyone else to know that theirs are too,” Graham said in an interview with DailyMail.com.
Sports Illustrated also announced that the swimsuit issue will feature plus size Australian model Robyn Lawley within its editorial pages. Lawley is a size 12, which is considered plus size — although sometimes controversially — within the modeling and fashion industry.
"I don't know if I consider myself as a plus-size model or not," Lawley told Time magazine. "I just consider myself a model because I'm trying to help women in general accept their bodies."
Regardless, many people are excited to see Sports Illustrated finally include curvier women within its ad and editorial pages.
“Count Hapari among those who are glad to see more exposure for plus size women,” said Hapari spokesperson Tasha Carson. “Our swimwear is designed to flatter all kinds of women — no matter if you are a size 2 or a size 20. We love to see women of all sizes being comfortable in their own skin.”
Hapari has included plus sizes in its swimwear line for several years. However, in the fall of 2014, the designer swimwear company introduced a line of plus size bikinis as part of its Swim 2015 Collection.
“Since our beginning, we’ve designed swimwear to help women feel confident and beautiful — no matter their shape,” said Carson. “Our new line of plus size bikinis builds on that philosophy.”
Hapari’s plus size bikini line includes three bikini styles — the Push-Up Enhancer Bikini, the Twist Bikini with plenty of coverage and a subtle twist embellishment, and the Tie-Front String Bikini. All three styles are available in a number of new 2015 prints and solid colors.
“Just like our tankini line, each bikini style offers a unique feature that sets it apart,” said Carson. “The Push-Up offers great support and lift; the Twist has great coverage and straps that can be worn three different ways; and the Tie-Front is sleek and stylish but also designed to provide great coverage.”
Hapari’s plus size bikini line is available at Hapari.com as well as at retail locations in American Fork, Utah, and Kaysville, Utah.
