The Women and the Law Section encourages and facilitates the active and effective participation of women in the legal profession and in the community, and addresses women’s current needs and issues affecting them. Section members focus on educating the public in matters affecting women as professionals, litigators, and citizens.

Melissa has been on the WAL council since 2005 and has been actively involved with other associations such as Dallas Women Lawyers, El Paso Women’s Bar Association, and Texas Women Lawyers, encouraging women attorneys to stay active and informed in their communities.
She joined Hartline Dacus Barger Dreyer in 2001 and has represented clients in product liability, professional negligence, and commercial litigation. Melissa enjoys defending legal professionals in malpractice cases, which have become more prevalent in recent years. During her career, Melissa has successfully represented numerous individual and corporate clients.
