Haworth Music Centre Encourages HSC Music Students as Exams Loom
Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) October 22, 2013 -- All around Australia students are sitting the final exams for their high school lives, and laying the groundwork for their futures. Many of the teenage customers of Haworth Music Centre’s two retail outlets are among the 5049 students who have chosen Music as one of their electives - and the Haworth team has offered them both encouragement and support.
“As musicians and music lovers, we are all excited that Music as a school subject continues to grow in popularity,” said Glenn Haworth, Managing Director of Haworth Music Centre.
“Recently released NSW Board of Studies figures reveal that the number of senior students studying music as an elective has grown by 34% in the last 10 years,” he explained. “Interestingly, Music 1 is now more popular with boys - the only arts subject that is.”
Many Haworth HSC student customers have been visiting the store from the time their parents purchased their first instrument - Haworth Guitars has been the music hub of the Wollongong, NSW, area for 14 years.
“We have been privileged to see their progress and the directions they’ve taken from those very early days,” said Mr Haworth. “Most of them start out on ukeleles early in primary school, before progressing to other musical instruments.”
“Some are very gifted on clarinet or saxophone, others play a mean electric guitar. Most will join school bands or ensembles, while gigging at home with their friends,” he continued. “And whether or not they go on to follow careers in music, we know that music will continue to have a role in their lives - and we are proud to have been a part of that.”
HSC Music students have already been assessed for their individual performances, but the theory examinations for Music 1 and Music 2 are being held on Monday, October 28.
“Our whole team wishes them all every success,” said Mr Haworth.
About Haworth Music Centre
Haworth Guitars was first established in 1999 by guitar lover and luthier Phil Haworth. His intention was to focus on repairing and building stringed instruments, but in 2000 he added a retail element to his thriving workshop business.
In 2008 the two-level Haworth Music Centre was opened at Albion Park Rail, near Wollongong, south of Sydney, Australia. Staffed by people who thrive in an environment where their love of musical instruments, and music, are encouraged.
Phil now spends most of his time in his guitar workshop. Haworth Music Centre is now run by Phil's son, Glenn, who, as Managing Director has grown the business to include a very active online sales element, a vibrant social media presence, and huge community support.
In 2013 Haworth opened up a second retail outlet in Wollongong, NSW, which features purpose built test-drive rooms, including those for drums, guitars and amplifiers.
