HCR ManorCare Launches "Your Brain" Video Series
Toledo, OH (PRWEB) May 03, 2016 -- Each year, about 800,000 people suffer from cerebral vascular accidents, or strokes. Strokes remain a leading cause of death across the United States and account for one death every four minutes. Many people who survive a stroke are left with physical and mental impairments or are permanently disabled. HCR ManorCare is launching a video series called “Your Brain,” in conjunction with its medical journal “Balance,” in order to educate patients, family members and the general public about stroke and brain health.
Dr. Mark Gloth, Chief Medical Officer for HCR ManorCare, discusses various aspects of stroke in the videos, including risk factors, helpful statistics and what happens during a stroke. “So many people worry about heart health, digestive health and lung health,” according to Gloth. “We need to spread the knowledge about brain health. Knowledge is power when it comes to strokes. Knowing the signs and symptoms, getting help, taking preventative actions and focusing on general health can drastically improve a person’s chance of surviving and preventing a stroke.”
“Your Brain” is a five-part video series that dives deeper into hot topics surrounding stroke, and breaks the information down into a quick, easy to understand format by clearly defining confusing medical terminology and common health problems as they relate to the brain.
“So often, people leave conversations with medical professionals having more questions than answers,” Gloth said. “Our video series is aimed at providing answers to those questions and helping people better understand their bodies, their health and conditions that they may face. We hope that the series will encourage people to think about their brain and take a proactive approach to overall health care.”
