Health Justice CT Announces Video Challenge on Healthcare Enrollment
(PRWEB) November 25, 2013 -- Health Justice CT, an innovative movement designed to use social media as the foundation for raising awareness on racial and ethnic disparities in Connecticut, announces its 3rd Annual Health Justice CT Challenge as of a statewide effort designed to educate and enroll communities of color in new insurance options.
Between October 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014, more than 340,000 of Connecticut uninsured will have the opportunity to enroll to receive health insurance coverage for the first time, and this year’s challenge seeks Connecticut residents (that include individuals, organizations or groups) to create a video message that would encourage communities of color to enroll for healthcare using the state’s healthcare exchange.
There are three cash prizes totaling $10,000. Applications are due at http://www.HealthJusticeCTChallenge.org no later than Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11:59pm EST. Applying for the 3rd Annual Health Justice CT Challenge is a three-step application process:
1. Online Application: Each individual, group or organization must complete a short online application.
2. Video Submission: Make a creative video that specifically encourages one of these audiences to enroll for healthcare using the State’s healthcare exchange.
• Communities of color
• Medicaid-eligible(s)
• Students of color
3. Online social sharing: Applicant’s video will be shared and voted on by the public at HealthJusticeCTChallenge.org from January 6th to March 31, 2014.
Applicants will be judged on the following criteria: video message, social media and online engagement.
“New provisions in the Affordable Care Act mean big changes for Connecticut’s residents,” said Heang Tan, program director of Health Justice CT. “Increasing enrollment for communities of color offers an opportunity to advance health equity, and we’re asking people to put on their creativity caps and participate in this challenge to help get the word out about enrollment.”
