Health Tech Austin Brings Together Industry Leaders for Population Health Discussion
Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 11, 2016 -- Health Tech Austin, a group of health tech leaders and influencers from central Texas and beyond, will be hosting an in-depth panel discussion on the topic of population health, titled “How Population Health Will Change Austin and Why You Should Care,” on Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 7:45– 9:30 a.m. at the Capital Factory in downtown Austin.
Open to the community, the August event brings together a lively panel of experts to discuss how population health issues are affecting the Austin-area. The panel will examine how businesses and community health leaders can rally together to improve patient outcomes and reduce health care expenditures for all central Texans and the corporate and government entities that support them.
“Every business is impacted by insurance and healthcare for their employees,” said a representative of Health Tech Austin. “With the current changes in population health, it’s important for industry and business leaders to understand the complexities and significant expenses of healthcare, and in turn, how to improve the well being of their employees.”
Leading the charge to transform population healthcare in central Texas, the panelists will include Regina Rogoff, CEO of Peoples Community Clinic; George Terrazas, president of Texas Care Alliance; and Christie Garbe, VP and Chief Strategy Officer at Central Health.
Jayne Nussbaum, Executive Director, Department of Population Health at UT-Austin - Dell Medical School, will moderate the Panel Discussion. "After this session, we want business leaders to have a clearer picture of what population health is and why it is so important to the creation of a model health city in Austin,” said Nussbaum. “We all want a healthier population of individuals, which not only means access to high quality care and services, but access to healthy environments where the healthy choice is the easy choice. With new data measuring the health of the population, we’re able to analyze the issues at hand and better understand how to tackle them together.”
Health Tech Austin provides monthly networking and educational sessions for leaders who want to change the dynamics of healthcare. The next event will take place on September 8 and will feature a panel of venture capitalists providing advice and insights to startups in the health tech space.
