McKinney, TX (PRWEB) September 19, 2015 -- Healthcare Associates of McKinney is pleased to announce their opening, offering care for the entire family, ages 6 and up. The group is dedicated to providing quality, patient-centered medical and preventive care to families in an environment that promotes trust and comfort. With board certified physicians, Dr. Edwin Taylor and Dr. Wallace Sarver, and a physician assistant, Lauren Dethlefs, Healthcare Associates of McKinney has a variety of family medicine services with flexible hours.
Dr. Edwin Taylor earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the University of New Orleans in Louisiana after serving 8 years enlisted in the United States Navy. He then attended medical school at Louisiana State University School of Health Sciences in Shreveport, LA under the endorsement of the Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program and finished his internship in family practice at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. After serving a tour as a general medical officer aboard an overseas based ship, he returned to the Naval Hospital in Pensacola and completed his residency in family practice. He served 15 years in the Navy after an overseas tour in Okinawa, Japan and various subsequent deployments. He is a veteran of the war in Iraq having served a 13 month tour in Fallujah where he was involved in combat operations. He joins Healthcare Associates of McKinney after 4 years of private practice in Pensacola, Florida. Dr. Taylor is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is bilingual and bicultural in Spanish.
Wallace Sarver, DO, FAAFP, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Southern California University of Health Sciences and received his medical degree from A.T. Still University – Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed 2 years of residency training in obstetrics and gynecologic surgery at Michigan State University (St John-Detroit Riverview Hospital), and then went on to complete a family medicine residency at Selby General Hospital in Ohio. He is board certified in family medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Sarver practiced full scope family medicine (including obstetrics), in Wisconsin, for many years. He and his family then moved to Allen, Texas in 2008, and he has practiced in this area since. He enjoys taking care of patients of all ages, and has special interest in preventive care and sports medicine.
Lauren Dethlefs, PA-C, a native of Southlake, received her Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University in College Station and continued on to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies. She worked in the emergency room and urgent care setting prior to moving to family practice in 2013. Lauren is certified by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She’s a member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and American Academy of Physician Assistants. She enjoys integrating traditional practices and natural medicine. She is passionate about preventive care and managing chronic and urgent care needs for all ages.
