Healthcare Innovation Company to Debut Health Care Cards
Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 08, 2016 -- Involution Studios, an Arlington, MA-based healthcare innovation company, will debut their Health Care Cards at Mass Innovation Nights on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. The Health Care Cards, 60 in all, offer advice and planning across the full spectrum of health and wellness and are available in both digital and paper versions. Each card offers a simple axiom for better health, such as eating right, exercising, and knowing and monitoring your health data, along with a lightweight care plan explaining how to incorporate that axiom into your daily life.
“Most of the work we do at Involution Studios involves digital innovation,” said Juhan Sonin, Involution's chief design officer. “It was through this work with companies like Walgreen’s, Mt. Sinai Hospital, and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard that we developed the deep knowledge and experience offer this health and wellness solution.”
Mr. Sonin conceived of the Health Care Cards in 2014 along with open health expert Harry Sleeper and Sarah Kaiser, an illustrator at Involution Studios. The cards feature a hand-drawn illustration from Ms. Kaiser, inspired by the Russian propaganda art style of the early 20th century. Her art for the Health Care Cards has been featured on NPR, as well as in the book "Developing Citizen Designers".
“The Boston area is a hotbed of healthcare innovation, driven by an abundance of world-class healthcare facilities and higher education centers,” said Bobbie Carlton, the Founder of Innovation Nights, LLC. “By showcasing new innovative healthcare products like Health Care Cards, we’re providing inspiration for the community, and supporting new business opportunities and the promise of better lives for us all.”
An outspoken advocate of the open source movement, Mr. Sonin conceived of the Health Care Cards as an open platform that people around the world can freely access to their own benefit, or for experts to further develop for other humanitarian purposes. The Health Care Cards are distributed under a Creative Commons license. Learn more about them at http://www.carecards.me.
“Increased knowledge of human anatomy, combined with the unprecedented access to data offered by the Internet of Things, provides an opportunity to make each of us and our society more healthy,” said Mr. Sonin. “Our Health Care Cards are an open source platform upon which interested physicians and technologists can be an active part in driving a more healthful future.”
The Health Care Cards debut at the upcoming Mass Innovation Nights, to be held at the LogMeIn headquarters at 320 Summer Street in Boston, Massachusetts at 6:00 PM on Tuesday July 12, 2016. A limited number of tickets are still available at the organization’s website, http://mass.innovationnights.com.
