Healthcare & Life Sciences Domain Expert Carl Derenfeld Joins Aurora WDC as Director of Integrative Intelligence
Madison, WI (PRWEB) February 19, 2015 -- Aurora WDC, the leading provider in the global strategic, competitive and market intelligence industry, announced today that longtime industry veteran Carl B. Derenfeld, MBA, MSW, has joined the firm as Director of Integrative Intelligence. He will be located in Aurora’s Chicagoland office, and will have responsibility for multi-site integration of client engagement and program performance on a worldwide basis.
Over his 35 year career, Carl has been tasked with increasing responsibility in leadership positions at both commercial-and not-for-profit organizations, starting in clinical practice with the N.Y.S Division for Youth. He has worked for firms such as: Proactive Worldwide, Verix, Marketing Technology Solutions/QualityHealth, AmericasDoctor/Essential Group CRO/Patient Recruitment, the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), Pharmacia/G.D. Searle, Boots Pharmaceuticals (Boots Company), Flint Laboratories/Baxter International, Health Systems Projects, Dimensional Marketing/Advertising and Derenfeld Associates Consulting. Carl earned an MBA from the JL Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and an MSW from the Wurzweiler School, Yeshiva University.
“Carl is regarded as a renaissance professional with a demonstrated knack for marrying historical perspectives with a strong forward sense of predictive vision,” said Derek Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Aurora WDC. “As Aurora continues to invest in expanding our Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS) suite of solutions, Carl was a natural strategic choice to help us immediately broaden our expertise to serve both current and new clients alike.”
Carl’s hybrid career path integrates his team management skills, consulting experience, multi-therapeutic area expertise, and functional background. He is able to connect information from the broadest range of external and internal sources to fuel analytical techniques that facilitate evidence-driven decision making. This signature approach brings tremendous focus to asset maximization, lifecycle management, and resource allocation, to enable clients to address their highest-priority challenges and opportunities. His balanced clinical and commercial background has allowed Carl to become a respected speaker and subject matter expert in industry journals and periodicals.
“The global HCLS ecosystem is in a state of accelerating evolution, driven by an expanding array of forces in the public and private sectors. Becoming more competitive as a new market entrant or incumbent defender increases every client’s need for innovative decision enablement tools,” Carl said. “As a collaborator to clients, this requires becoming more invested in their business. We will earn our status as a trusted advisor and will bring fresh ideas to bear, so that we consistently deliver a manageable view of our client’s threats and opportunities, while allowing for proper resourcing and investment to be successful.”
“In the new role of Director of Integrative Intelligence, Carl will provide clients with a customized experience that demonstrates how all components of the intelligence process work in unison to address real-world business challenges and produce superior business outcomes,” said Derek Johnson. “Pairing his multi-segment expertise at the clinical and commercial levels with his business acumen will provide prioritized insights our clients will put into action immediately. The uncertainty confronting the healthcare and life sciences sector requires business leaders to challenge their organizations to become more precise in their market forecasting and competitive assessment. Business leaders have to become increasingly forward-thinking, with integrative intelligence informing and enabling their choice of strategy, direction and tactics.”
“I am very excited to be joining the Aurora team,” Carl continued.” We have a strong tradition with our existing intelligence platforms, and a dedicated, experienced, and talented team to fuel our growth,” Carl said.
"As we celebrate our 20th anniversary this month, I remain as committed today as I was two decades ago that our clients depend on intelligence products and advice that directs them to resolve their highest-priority business problems,” said Arik Johnson, Founder and Chairman of Aurora WDC. “It is an honor for Aurora WDC to be trusted with delivering mission-driven intelligence solutions to our clients and we are privileged to attract the very best, most experienced and innovative people to help deliver these results. Carl is bringing a new degree of complementarity across the capabilities Aurora has spent the past 20 years developing to ensure business results remain our top priority in every client engagement. Derek and I are extremely excited to support Carl’s drive to raise the standard of care even higher.”
