Healthyroads Demonstrates Commitment to Fitness with #BeBeast Bicycle Campaign to Raise Awareness about Fitness During the Group Health STP
San Diego, California (PRWEB) July 08, 2014 -- Healthyroads, the population health management subsidiary of American Specialty Health Incorporated, is sending a contingent of riders, Team Healthyroads, to participate in the Group Health Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic (STP). Team Healthyroads members will show their commitment to promoting better health during this 200-mile ride, which is the largest multi-day bicycle event in the Northwest, with up to 10,000 participants riding from Seattle to Portland in one or two days.
Team Healthyroads members are all colleagues at Healthyroads, one of the nation’s largest wellness, prevention and population health programs, and will give it all they’ve got to inspire others to live healthier lives in this 200-mile ride.
Meet Team Healthyroads:
• Rik Lee, vice president of population health sales, is a road cycling enthusiast and mountain biker from the San Francisco Bay Area. He enjoys tackling Mt. Diablo, a steep 3,849-foot climb, and other beautiful and challenging routes. This will be Lee’s first 200-mile ride.
• Greg Norman, Ph.D., senior research scientist, is an experienced road cyclist and mountain biker who has competed in mountain bike racing for over 10 years. His most memorable rides include the Big Bear 100, the Everest Challenge Stage Race, and the Vermont 50 Mountain Bike Race.
• Steve Eastburn, director, national sales for employer groups, started cycling last year and has already fallen in love with this sport. He will travel from Maryland for the STP, which will be his first 200-mile ride.
• Kaitlin Cofer, associate national sales manager, is also a skilled cyclist who was on the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Cycling team. While she has completed several other long-distance cycle rides of 100 miles or more, the STP will be her first 200-mile event.
“We are beyond pumped to pedal from Seattle to Portland to promote better health, which we hope will encourage others to get out there and get fit, no matter what activity they choose,” said Lee. “The most important thing to keep in mind when getting in shape is not to be intimidated. Take small steps first, like walking during your lunch break or parking your car a little farther away from wherever you are going. Celebrate your accomplishments and work toward bigger goals, and you’ll be on your way.”
“Exercise can be fun while also providing many health benefits. It’s been clinically proven that regular physical activity can lower the risk of heart disease and control weight. Plus, it makes you feel good and helps to reduce stress,” added Lee.
Healthyroads is an official Group Health STP sponsor (and participant!), and they want to see your best photo from the weekend! Take a great “spirit” photo during ride weekend, and post on Instagram using all of the following tags: #BeBeast, #WinHRDsPrize and @healthyroads. The best photo will win a $250 Visa gift card!
