Heart Fit Clinic Reduces Angina Medication with New External Counterpulsation Treatment
Calgary, AB (PRWEB) July 27, 2015 -- Chest pain or angina is a common symptom for patients suffering from chronic heart disease. These patients may have already had an intervention such as a heart stent or heart bypass surgery, and are now subject to increasing medication to help with angina. Heart stent and bypass surgery are good treatment options for patients with angina; however, the life expectancy of a heart stent or bypass surgery may be bleak. Heart disease likes to progress and that includes into grafts or arteries that have already had a heart stent.
Going through a heart procedure may not be the best option for some patients, therefore cardiologists prescribe angina heart medications. Now, Albertans and the people of Calgary, have another option with External Counterpulsation Therapy. Also known as EECP or ECP. External Counterpulsation is an evidence-based treatment option for patients who have angina or chest pain. ECP or EECP has been done all over the world as a first-line treatment including a number of well known heart centres in the United States that includes the Mayo and Cleveland Clinics. External Counterpulsation is also a great option for patients who have had a failed or blocked heart stent or bypass surgery or even for patients whose arteries are not amenable to a heart stent or bypass surgery. These patients are usually deemed as "no option" but now they do have an option with the Heart Fit Clinic.
The Heart Fit Clinic is a private healthcare clinic in Calgary that has seen many patients with chronic heart disease, and have helped them with External Counterpulsation Therapy (ECP / EECP). They have helped their patients avoid heart stent or surgery, reducing or eliminating angina medications, and truly giving them their lives back. "The results we get with our clients fuels our passion to help people with heart disease" says Diamond Fernandes, director of the Heart Fit Clinic.
The Heart Fit Clinic is the first clinic in Alberta to bring on External Counterpulsation and is excited to incorporate it into its overall heart health program that includes screening, stress management, exercise, proper nutrition and supplements.
