Hearth and Home – Adult Day Healthcare Center Planning Expanded Services
Manassas, Virginia (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- Many families living in Manassas and surrounding communities in need of Adult Day Healthcare support, may not be aware that almost ten years ago the former Marsteller Middle School was converted to support several extension ministries of Manassas Baptist Church including an Adult Day Healthcare Center – Hearth and Home. Located between the Manassas Baptist Church and Prince William Medical Center on Sudley Road, Hearth and Home is currently planning on expanding its support to the community, which will be introduced during an open house being planned for the end of January.
Before the building was purchased, members of the Church felt strongly that the community needed a viable alternative to long term care placement. Ten years later members continue to be passionate about the need for safe Adult Day Care – both for adults who need care and for caregivers who are juggling a tremendous responsibility for their family and our larger community. The expanded community services currently being planned include an on-line knowledge source for senior adult care planning and an enhanced senior adult daycare activity program.
Hearth and Home was designed to allow adults to remain as independent as possible in their community and to provide respite for their family during the day. Families using the service gain peace of mind knowing that their loved one is in an environment that offers safety and quality care.
The Hearth & Home Adult Day Healthcare Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping families together in the community. As an alternative to long term home health care services, Adult Day Care provides a wide range of services, stimulating activities, healthcare monitoring, socialization and supervision for higher functioning to lower functioning adults during the week day. The support is especially designed for those adults with Alzheimer’s and dementia. As reported by the National Adult Day Services Association, nearly half of all day care participants nationally have some level of dementia; however, other chronic diseases among participants include chronic hypertension, physical disability, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, mental illness and developmental disability.
Hearth and Home provides enriched daily activities designed to nurture impaired adults with love and respect. The goal established by those founding the service is to help participants to maintain their highest level of independence while preserving dignity and enhancing quality of life. Participants enjoy the spacious and secure facility that is both comfortable and visually appealing. The professionally trained staff is dedicated to maintaining a safe, supportive and caring environment. Additionally, adult day care services are significantly more cost effective than home health services, assisted living, and other forms of long term care for people of all ages that cannot be left at home unsupervised.
It took a lot of hard work and sacrifice on the part of the members of Manassas Baptist Church to turn the vision of providing quality Adult Day Care into a reality. The services provided by Hearth and Home have been improved and expanded over time and can be considered a model for others to follow. The members of Manassas Baptist Church that had the vision to establish Hearth and Home remain committed to the continued expansion of the service for the community. The date for the pending open house will be announced in early January.
