Heartsmart.com to Donate an AED Each Month in 2014
New Milford, CT (PRWEB) January 27, 2014 -- Heart Smart Technology is pleased to announce that for the year of 2014, an automatic external defibrillator will be donated to an organization each month.
Previously, as part of the “Likes for Lives” campaign, Heart Smart Technology gave away AEDs though its Facebook page. An AED was given away every time 5000 people liked the page. This resulted in several defibrillator donations to organizations chosen by Facebook fans and greater awareness of the importance of having automatic external defibrillators available in case of an emergency.
Some previous recipients include Westbridge Academy, New York City Fire Department, Tractors for Trenton, Deepstep Fire Department, Somerdale Fire Department and Regency Christian Academy. With these donations, AEDs have been made available, increasing the chance of surviving sudden cardiac arrest.
The purpose of this program is to bring people and communities together in raising awareness of AEDs and their life-saving capabilities. The program required people to get involved bringing groups of people to work together to reach a common goal. Through this program, a community reaching 25,000 people was created on Facebook that has raised awareness of the necessity of always having an AED nearby.
With the success of the “Likes for Likes” program and the impact it has had on the organization and communities affected by the donations, and with the increased awareness about AEDs, Heart Smart Technology will build on the program, donating one AED per month this year regardless of how many likes increase on Facebook. For more information on how to participate in this program visit Heart Smart Technology’s Facebook page.
