Helix Education Joins Panel of Academic Experts at EDUCAUSE Connect
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) April 20, 2015 -- Helix Education, a world class provider of student life cycle technologies and services, has been invited to present on the impact of Competency-Based Education (CBE) during the upcoming EDUCAUSE Connect conference. The event provides a highly interactive and collaborative environment for educators to share ideas and strategies that have real potential to move the education industry forward.
"CBE presents a new way of thinking when it comes to both the way that content is delivered, as well as the way outcomes are measured," said Cherron Hoppes, Chief Academic Officer at Helix Education. "This is an ideal setting to dive in and have realistic conversations about the changes higher education is experiencing. We are thrilled to be part of this important conversation about CBE in terms of its current role and its ability to transform education in the future."
“A Lightning Round Look at Competency-Based Education” will explore the impact CBE can have on students, faculty and administrators, as well as its function within traditional credit hour models. Speakers will reflect on their own experiences as they share lessons learned when collaborating with faculty, instructional designers, students, IT, and vendors. They will also discuss relevant data and analytics within selected instructional methods, integration strategies, instructional design, course creation, motivation, and student support. The session takes place on Thursday, April 23rd at 1:45 p.m.
Emily Wood, who is an Instructional Designer at Helix Education and previously served as Founding Director of the Center for Engagement and Learning at Pierce College, will be presenting. Based on a wealth of experience developing curriculum and courses, Wood will share her expertise in impactful design, delivery and quality assurance. She has taught both in the classroom and online and will shed light on how education models like CBE are evolving the teaching and learning experience for faculty and students alike.
EDUCAUSE Connect San Antonio takes place April 22nd-24th. EDUCAUSE touts the event as a highly interactive, action-driven professional development experience focused on finding workable solutions, connecting people's experiences, building professional networks, and growing individual and collective understanding of higher education IT issues.
