HelloSign Compliant with New EU Electronic Signature Regulations
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 23, 2016 -- Today HelloSign announces compliance with the Electronic ID and Trust Services (eIDAS) regulation which will replace the EU Directive and go into effect on July 1, 2016. Under eIDAS, there will be a consistent legal framework for the acceptance of electronic signatures across all countries in the European Union for the first time in history, enabling cross-border e-commerce to become a reality. All eSignatures through HelloSign are considered ‘advanced electronic signatures’ under eIDAS.

In addition to compliance with new eIDAS regulation, HelloSign remains compliant with the requirements of the U.S. Electronic Signature in Global National Commerce Act of 2000 (ESIGN) and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA) which ensures any customers using HelloSign can rest assured their documents are legally binding and admissible as evidence in legal proceedings.
“Although we’ve always been compliant with regulations governing electronic signatures in the EU through the European EC/1999/93 Directive, we’re particularly excited about the new eIDAS regulations because it removes substantial barriers for wide adoption of eSignatures across Europe,” says Joseph Walla, CEO and Co-founder of HelloSign. “According to Forrester Research, the number of transactions settled with eSignatures is likely to reach more than 700 million in 2017 — much of that growth is expected to come from the EU so our compliance with eIDAS ensures HelloSign is a viable option for businesses across Europe to utilize.”
Our 43,000 paying customers and millions of users demand that we provide not only compliance with regulations governing eSignature, but also provide best-in-class security. As a result, HelloSign exercises stringent security practices and keeps legality at the top of mind throughout development and maintenance of the HelloSign platform. In order to be sure the person signing documents is who they say they are, HelloSign authenticates document signers through email and also offers two-factor authentication. To protect HelloSign user accounts, all user information transferred is 256-bit SSL encrypted, including usernames and passwords. Using hashing technology, HelloSign can provide evidence of tampering (or lack thereof) between pre- and post- signed documents. Additionally, HelloSign encrypts all statically-stored user files and signature information in Amazon's S3 servers, which are housed in an ISO 27001 certified data center.
