Henley-Putnam University Welcomes New Associate Dean of Strategic Security Degree Programs
Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- Henley-Putnam University is delighted to announce David McNamee will join the University community as Associate Dean of Strategic Security Studies.
David McNamee will have primary responsibility for the oversight and leadership of the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in Strategic Security Studies. He brings to the University a comprehensive background that includes experience as an educator, executive-level consultant, leadership expert, former business owner, veteran, and manager with documented success in public, private, domestic, and international sectors. His background includes extensive experience in transformational leadership, organizational assessment and development, strategic planning, continuous improvement, and problem solving.
McNamee has 13 years of progressively responsible experience as both faculty and administrator of college programs at three regionally accredited universities—University of Phoenix, Concordia University, and Marylhurst University. During this time, he moved steadily from adjunct instructor to Program Manager, Program Director to Chair. Most recently McNamee was the Chair of the largest MBA and undergraduate business programs in the State of Oregon according to Portland Business Journal magazine. The innovative programs at Marylhurst included one of the first accelerated online degree programs in the state, other non-traditional degree programs and offsite campuses which offered an accelerated business degree program developed in concert with community college partners. An expert in program assessment, McNamee was the specialized accreditation expert for two universities. His assessment program was lauded as a model program by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). He served as a member of IACBE’s regional and national Board of Directors.
McNamee served with distinction as a U.S. Air Force Radio Communications Analyst during the Vietnam era before receiving his ROTC commission and becoming a Signals Intelligence Systems officer. His 20-year career included stints as a Squadron, Detachment, and Deputy Group Commander. He authored the U.S. Air Force’s Operations Security and Tactical Deception policies as well as the National Security Agency/Central Security Service’s national Electronic Intelligence policy. He led numerous teams in support of various national security initiatives including an intelligence team in support the Iranian Hostage Rescue attempt, Operation Urgent Fury, and was the intelligence Task Force Director for multiple Team Spirit exercises in the Republic of South Korea. As a Deputy Group Commander, he supervised the training of airborne area specialists in support of operation Desert Storm. He completed advanced executive leadership training with the Squadron Officer School, the Battle Staff School, Air Command and Staff College of the U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Cryptologic School in Washington D.C. as a graduate of the highly selective Junior Officer Cryptologic Career Program. Selected as the senior military representative of the Director of the National Security Agency to the Commander, Alaskan Command, McNamee developed groundbreaking techniques for national intelligence support to joint military/civilian counternarcotics and illegal alien operations.
“David is an outstanding leader, and truly understands the many elements of our unique doctoral program. Our bachelors, masters, and doctoral students are leaders in the intelligence, counterterrorism, and security fields, and come from impressive backgrounds. David shares that background, but also has the entrepreneurial, business, and leadership experience from the private sector that brings a true value-added to our students,” said Amanda Morrow-Jensen, Director of Outreach and Business Development for Henley-Putnam University. “David’s research and writing embody the rigor and high academic standards that characterize our programs, while his energy, experience and enthusiasm embody the very core of the University’s mission and values.”
McNamee has a BA in Communications, a MSSci in International Relations, and is completing his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies.
