Henry County, Illinois Tourism Bureau Announces 2013 Trail of Terror
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) September 19, 2013 -- The award winning Trail of Terror is a self-guided tour throughout Northwest Illinois during September and October with special events and haunted happenings. Fall festivals, haunted houses, cemetery walks, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, winery tours, and more are what visitors will find on the 11 county Trail of Terror. The event has a full lineup of activities of fall activities covering Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Henry, Jo Daviess, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Winnebago, and Whiteside counties.
As visitors to the area wind the trail through Henry County, Illinois, there are a few notable stops for tourists to mark on a trip calendar:
Country Corner Market in Alpha will deliver on farm fresh fun. Families can build a tradition and take part in a celebration of all things autumn during festival weekends from September through October. Country Corner, a great place to visit, is turned into a Fall Fun Park. On weekdays, visitors can get up close and personal with more than 25 farm animals in the barnyard zoo or get lost in the eight-acre corn maze. Parents can let the kids burn off energy in the kids corn shock maze, learning center, bee barn, and the timber park playground.
On weekends, visitors can grab one of the little red wagons and ride Country Corner’s U-pick hayrack ride into the 10-acre pumpkin patch to pick out a unique jack-o-lantern to-be. Country Corner has pumpkins of every shape imaginable, and in addition to traditional orange, there will be green, red, pink, and blue pumpkins available for purchase.
Families can ride the exclusive cow train, visit the nature trail, prairie park, mine for gems, and visit the concessions area. Shoppers may want to stock up on beautiful fall produce, decorative items, jams, jellies, canned goods, and more. The Country Corner magic popcorn should not be missed by visitors.
Exciting weekend festival activities are set to include live music, draft horse demonstrations, hayrides, flying pumpkins shot from the Q-9 pumpkin cannon, a giant pumpkin contest, corn cannons, concessions, bonfires, and more. Visitors can experience the history of Orion, IL at Western Township Cemetery. Walking tours will take visitors past memorial stones dating back to the mid 1800's. Tourists can step back in time and meet historical figures during important moments. Main Street Orion's Full Moon Thursday Lantern tours on September 19 are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will depart every fifteen minutes, as well as on Saturday afternoon, September 21. Visitors can feel the chill in the air and catch a glimpse of a harvest moon walking through the darkness and become one with the night. Brave visitors are dared to follow the path to seek light where screams in the distance start to fade, and the torment becomes near.
Each year, Torment at Twelve Hundred, a 30-acre haunted theatre attraction, unveils a different chapter in a continuing horror-filled saga that takes place indoors and out. A cast of scary actors will taunt, creep, scare, and even make visitors laugh while screaming with nowhere to escape the torment. This Halloween season stop is in Orion, Illinois, 14 miles southeast of the Quad Cities, where the plot's unfolding on Friday through Sunday each weekend in October.
