Heritage Woods of McLeansboro Affordable Assisted Living to Celebrate Supportive Living Week
Bradley, Illinois (PRWEB) April 18, 2015 -- Heritage Woods of McLeansboro, a Gardant affordable assisted living community, will begin its Supportive Living Week Celebration on April 20 with a day full of activities that focus on having a healthy mind, body and soul.
The community, which is located at 605 S. Marshall in McLeansboro, Illinois, serves older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.
Supportive Living Week is observed every April and highlights the communities within the Illinois Supportive Living Program.
Area seniors can stop by between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on April 20 for a free breakfast that includes scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and fruit.
Congressman John Shimkus will visit with residents and guests from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. He is expected to discuss the benefits of assisted living for older adults in McLeansboro and nearby towns.
Local motivational speaker Deborah McKinney Huff will offer words of wisdom and encouragement to pursue healthy lifestyle changes. She will begin her talk at 10 a.m.
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., guests are invited to wave goodbye to the winter blues and enjoy an afternoon of pampering from the Rend Lake College cosmetology students. They will give relaxing hand massages and free manicures to all attendees.

Heritage Woods is the only senior living community in Hamilton County that is certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program. The community is managed by Gardant Management Solutions, the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.
"The community provides seniors with a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home," says Director of Marketing Kelly Webb.
Residents benefit from the opportunity to live in a residential apartment-home environment and receive the personal assistance and help with medications they need.
Each of the apartments features a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, and an emergency alert system.
Certified nursing assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Meals, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.
Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors no matter what the weather and to participate in a variety of activities and special events, says Webb.
“Our focus is to provide residents with the love, compassion and dignity they deserve in addition to the care and assistance they need,” she said. “Our emphasis is on helping each resident achieve and maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible.”
