High Fidelity Earplugs to Be Offered At Outdoor Concerts in 35 U.S. Cities This Summer
Elk Grove Village, IL (PRWEB) April 30, 2015 -- Etymotic Research, makers of high fidelity hearing protection and personal audio products, announced today that a pilot program begun last summer where their reusable ETY•Plugs® earplugs were sold at three large Northeastern amphitheaters, will now roll out to 35 U.S. amphitheaters this summer. The product will also be sold at some of the country’s largest music festivals. ETY•Plugs by Etymotic Research are the world's highest fidelity non-custom earplugs. A listing of concert venues offering ETY•Plugs can be found at etymotic.com.
The announcement comes just weeks after the World Heath Organization (WHO) released a report saying that more than a billion young people around the world are at risk of losing their hearing, and the news – along with hearing health recommendations including the use of earplugs – has gone viral.
The WHO analyzed the listening habits of 12-to 35-year-olds in wealthier countries around the world, and found that nearly 50% listen to unsafe sound levels on personal audio devices and about 40% are exposed to damaging levels of music and noise at entertainment venues. Exposure to noise levels of 100 dB, which is typical in such venues, is safe for no more than 15 minutes. With Etymotic’s earplugs, that noise level is safe for the entire concert.
