High-Performance Collaboration Energizes Insulation Industry
(PRWEB) January 04, 2018 -- On January 4, 2018 leaders from ConSol and High Performance Insulation Professionals (HPIP) announced a collaboration to offer training to California insulation contractors as a part of the Workforce Instruction for Standards and Efficiency (WISE) program. Both organizations aim to improve construction quality, encourage code compliance and train a new generation of skilled workers by disseminating techniques and best practices that enable more energy efficient residential buildings.
The state of California has set aggressive energy efficiency building codes―including ones for high-performance envelopes that will bring the wall and attic insulation standards often found in custom homes into those offered by production homebuilders. The WISE program provides free training and resources to insulation contractors in response to these increased needs for tradespeople versed in these standards. The collaboration forged between ConSol and HPIP will include joint trainings and allow WISE’s educational materials to qualify for optional accreditation under the HPIP certification program.
In 2018, ConSol and HPIP will host a series of free live events, which will feature both jobsite and classroom training opportunities with agenda, objectives, accredited coursework and corresponding exams―all made accessible for wide circulation on both organizations’ online learning portals. After successful completion of exams, attendees will be eligible to register at a special discounted rate for certification through HPIP.
“We’re looking to give an edge to professionals that who have gone through the full training,” says Dan Krekelberg of ConSol, Program Manager for WISE. “By becoming certified, installers will distinguish their skills and knowledge of advanced building envelopes, which will become increasingly valuable as more California homebuilders incorporate high-performance walls and attics into their projects.”
