Highland Hall Waldorf School Hosts Innovative Multisport Agility and Movement Program for Young Children
Northridge, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- Highland Hall Waldorf School is pleased to host a new program for children between the ages of 4-7 in its sports facilities. The "Multisport Agility and Movement Program for Young Children" was created by Highland Hall sports coach and alumna Caitlyn Kern as a developmentally appropriate and non competitive alternative for parents looking for an introduction to sports for their pre-school and kindergarten aged children.
"Having coached middle school volleyball here, I realized how much my heart is in helping children gain a lifelong love for sports the way that I did when I went to school at Highland Hall," says Kern. "And, that's why I started this coaching program. The focus is on socialization, developing gross motor skills, and nurturing the child's inherent self confidence. I begin where the children are at developmentally, then gradually expand what they know until by week five, they have a whole new set of skills, a new set of friends and memories of so much fun!"
The program is produced under the auspices of Coach Derek, Inc., whose Los Angeles-based sports classes for children 2-14 focus on teaching life lessons, such as teamwork, in a non-competitive environment. "Multisport Agility and Movement Program for Young Children" at Highland Hall is 45 minutes once a week on Mondays or Wednesdays for five weeks beginning July 29. 4-5 year olds will attend at 4 pm; 5-7 year olds at 5 pm. The cost is $85 for one day per week and $160 for both days. Fees are pro-rated. For more information or to register go to http://www.coachderek.com, or call 310-800-5980.
