Hill Country Rifle Team Sets New World Record with 3800 Yard Precision Shot
Austin, TX (PRWEB) September 22, 2015 -- Hill Country Rifles today announced that Jim Spinella and the HCR team hit a 36” plate from a remarkable distance of 3800 yards (2.16 miles). The shot was made with the Hill Country Rifle Extreme Long Range Carry Weight 375 CheyTac at the FTW Ranch in Texas. This new rifle weighs 12.5 pounds without the scope.
The world record shot took place on June 20, 2015 at the FTW Ranch in Barksdale, Texas, known for their SAAM Precision training courses. The wind was blowing a steady nine mph with gusts up to 17 mph. The bullet was traveling from ground level to almost 330 feet vertically, before descending to target and was in the air for 8.52 seconds, much of that at subsonic velocity. The next target for the HCR team will be a 4000 yard shot in Q4 in 2015.
