Hill & Ponton Announces of Counsel Hire of Retired Brigadier General Richard Maxon
(PRWEB) December 21, 2015 -- On November 21, 2015, Hill and Ponton announced that Retired Brigadier General Richard (Gregg) Maxon is now Of Counsel to Hill & Ponton. His focus will be as a subject area expert on herbicide exposure cases, specifically herbicides used in Thailand during the Vietnam Era, for veterans seeking VA service connected disability benefits. Maxon has a unique vantage point on this issue because he served in Thailand.
“I’m looking forward to working with Hill & Ponton on herbicide— what most call Agent Orange— veteran issues. I am especially interested in Thailand herbicide issues. I served in Thailand and was exposed myself. I want to share my knowledge with other veterans on how to win their case. I think this will be a great partnership with Hill & Ponton that will benefit disabled veterans in the future. There are so many veterans who served in Thailand that are not getting the benefits that they deserve. I believe that this partnership will help change that,” Maxon said.
Hill & Ponton is a disability law firm serving veterans nationwide. For the last three decades, the firm has helped thousands of clients all over the country. The firm specializes in VA disability compensation cases, with an emphasis on toxic exposure claims — such as Agent Orange — PTSD claims, TBI claims and Individual Unemployability claims.
Maxon enlisted in the Army in May 1972 serving as a linguist for the Army Security Agency, stationed in Thailand and Fort Hood, Texas. Separating from active duty in July 1975, he attended Arizona State University where he earned Bachelor of Science, Master of Business Administration, and Juris Doctor degrees.
In October 1980, Maxon re-entered active duty as a Judge Advocate with the U.S. Navy. He joined the Arizona Army National Guard as a Judge Advocate in August 1984. In June 1999, he was appointed as the Assistant Adjutant General and promoted to Brigadier General on December 12, 2000. Maxon retired from military service on July 9, 2007.
Maxon is accredited to practice before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and is admitted to practice before the U. S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. He serves as a Judge on the Arizona Court of Military Appeals and was recently appointed as a Judge Pro Tem in the Tempe and Mesa Municipal Courts where he presides over the Veterans Treatment Court. Maxon is a 2011 inductee into the Arizona Veterans Hall Of Fame.
“Gregg brings such a unique perspective to representing veterans. He served both as an enlisted man and an officer. He has represented veterans through a veterans service organization and as an individual attorney. We are excited to utilize his expertise, especially his intimate understanding of herbicide use in Thailand. There are so many veterans and survivors who still are not receiving the recognition and compensation that they deserve. Gregg will help us help those veterans to obtain the full compensation that they are entitled to,” said Hill and Ponton Managing Partner Matthew Hill.
