Historic Midwest Golf and Country Club Undergoes Major Facility Upgrades as It Celebrates 90th Anniversary
Appleton, WI (PRWEB) February 26, 2014 -- Celebrating its 90th anniversary later this year, Butte des Morts Country Club of Appleton, Wisconsin, has announced a three-year, $3 million-plus facility renovation project with the first series of upgrades already in the works.
The transformation is being funded by a mix of Country Club resources, including a capital campaign and membership drive, and features an updated pool space as requested by members.
The new outdoor water area is replacing the more-than-50-year-old pool which was at the end of its life cycle. The facility has been relocated and designed with a family focus in mind and is set to open this summer. Other features include a zero-entry children’s pool and a pool house. The space will also feature an open-air, covered restaurant and bar to host a variety of family and social events.
“We are already known as a family-friendly club, but this will move us to a whole new level,” said Matt Michael, Butte des Morts club manager.
Also home to an 18-hole championship golf course spread across 142 picturesque acres, Butte des Morts Country Club is adding a golf practice facility to its grounds. The short game area will consist of a practice green and fairway chipping area, along with green and fairway bunkers.
Other renovations planned for Butte des Morts Country Club include:
- A new tennis court adjacent to the pool area
- An updated irrigation system to enhance course playability and watering flexibility
- Clubhouse improvements, including renovations to the locker rooms and golf pro shop
- An expanded parking lot with 55 additional spots
Facility updates first began in the fall of 2013 and the majority will be completed this summer.
“This is a really exciting time for Butte des Morts Country Club,” Michael explained. “We’ve aimed to offer the best social, recreational and family atmosphere to our members in the club’s first 90 years, and these renovations will only add to the overall experience in years to come.”
