Historical Fiction Set in 1800s Collingwood
WASAGA BEACH, Ontario (PRWEB) April 24, 2017 -- A work of historical fiction with elements of romance and mystery, author Marjorie Day presents her debut novel “The Belle of Collingwood.”
The novel begins with narration by a ghost who provides insight into the life of the Collingwood area of Canada up until the mid-1800s when the story begins. Subsequent chapters focus on the stories of three women from different stations in life.
“I knew that I wanted to write a romantic historical fiction book and when I moved to Collingwood, it was inspirational to me as a setting,” said Day. “At that point, I had gained enough life experiences to feed my imagination.”
The stories of Caitlin, Annie, and Winnie are broken into separate sections, but the final chapter merges the characters to unravel the secret identity of the ghost.
“This is a story that will appeal to a wide range of readers because of its geographic location, simplicity of style, sophistication, and courage of content,” said Day. “On the surface, it seems to be a pleasant woman’s fiction novel, but it has other layers that invite study.”

Marjorie Day moved from Toronto to Collingwood, Ontario in 1986. She has always been inspired to write about this area and wrote poetry about nearby Wasaga Beach years ago, captivated with its natural beauty and mystery.
