Hixny Announces 2014 Officers and Board of Directors
Albany, NY (PRWEB) January 31, 2014 -- Hixny announces that John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO of CDPHP, has been re-elected to serve a second, one-year term as Chairman of the Hixny Board of Directors.
“2014 will be an important year in the continued evolution of Hixny. This Board represents a unique cross-section of healthcare and business leaders who share the common goal of improving the coordination of care and reducing healthcare costs in our region,” said Dr. Bennett. “This year Hixny will provide patients access to their electronic medical records, which represents our most recent efforts to engage the 1.55 million residents in our region to become more active in their care.”
The 16 directors of Hixny’s collaborative include physicians, hospitals, payers, government/education, consumers, and employers. In addition to Dr. Bennett, other Hixny board officers include Kallanna Manjunath, MD, chief medical officer, Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Services as vice chair; David Kile, director of continuing education and professional development of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, as treasurer, and George Hickman, executive vice president and chief information officer, Albany Medical Center, as secretary.
The Executive Committee also includes, James Hopsicker, vice president of pharmacy, MVP Health Care and Louis Snitkoff, MD, medical director, CapitalCare Medical Group were elected to at-large board members. John Collins, MD, chief medical officer, continuing and long term care, St. Peter’s Health Partners, and former Hixny board chair was named ex-officio.

In addition to the newly elected officers, Hixny also named its entire slate of directors. These include: Phil Deleel, director of information systems, Adirondack Health; Barbara Morris, MD, chief medical officer, Community Care Physicians; Joseph Gambino, CEO, Hometown Health Center; Barbara Hess, Chief Administrative Officer, SEFCU; Paul Macielak, president and CEO, New York Health Plan Association; Katherine Alonge-Coons, commissioner of mental health, Rensselaer County; Brian O’Grady, vice president, BlueShield of Northeastern New York; Wouter Rietsema, MD, vice president of quality and information services, CVPH Medical Center; and Bonnie Chavin, president, Seymour Fox Memorial Foundation. All officers and directors are elected to serve a one year-term.
