HNTB Corporation Expands Workforce With Strategic Hires in Southern California
Los Angeles (PRWEB) January 28, 2014 -- Southern California has experienced an increase in the number of transportation infrastructure projects being planned or developed across the region. This emerging transportation boom is being partially attributed to additional funding for infrastructure provided by Los Angeles County’s Measure R and the federal Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act.
Reflecting the evolving transportation needs of the region, HNTB Corporation, a national infrastructure solutions firm with five offices in Southern California, has added 30 new employees in the past year. The firm expects its trend toward expansion to continue in 2014.
“HNTB’s history in Southern California dates back to 1914 with the first concrete bridge in Pasadena, and 100 years later the firm is still making significant contributions to the region’s infrastructure,” said Phil Petrocelli, president, West Division. “Expanding our workforce with talented professionals is a top priority and will further enhance our ability to meet the transportation needs of our clients throughout Southern California.”
Recent key hires in Southern California include: Tony Gonzales, AIA, LEED AP, vice president, Los Angeles area office leader and West Division architectural leader; Graham Christie, PE, associate vice president, senior rail and transit practice leader; Patrick Somerville, PE, vice president, Southern California group director; Terence Pao, PE, project manager II, project manager Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement; and Frank De Lima, director of government relations.
HNTB is working on some of the most complex and widely known infrastructure projects in the Los Angeles area, including the Interstate 405 Sepulveda Pass Widening Project, the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor and the Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement. Engineering News-Record recently ranked HNTB among the top three firms in the nation for bridges and highways.
The firm’s offices in the region specialize in transportation planning, aviation, tolling, transit, architecture, engineering and design, financial consulting, environmental planning and permitting, urban design and planning, program management, construction management, design-build delivery and public involvement.
Nationwide HNTB is celebrating 100 years of service throughout 2014. The firm’s history in Southern California began a century ago with the design of Pasadena’s historic Colorado Street Bridge, also referred to as the Arroyo Seco Bridge. The firm also was involved in the implementation of the first high occupancy toll and express lanes to open in the United States, State Route 91 in Orange County, and HNTB worked on the first express lanes on Interstate 15 in San Diego.
