HNTB Selected as Overall Winner of ARTBA Transportation Development Foundation’s Inaugural “Helping Hand” Awards
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (PRWEB) April 14, 2015 -- HNTB Corporation has been selected as the overall winner of the inaugural American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation’s “Helping Hand” Awards. HNTB’s 100 Hours of Community Service program, which commemorated the firm’s 100th anniversary during 2014, was the judges’ unanimous first-place selection.
HNTB accepted the award at an ARTBA Foundation Awards luncheon today in Washington, D.C.
“This award would not have been possible without the dedication of HNTB’s employees across the United States who took the time to participate throughout 2014 in the initiative and give back to their respective communities,” said Rob Slimp, HNTB CEO. “HNTB values the well-being of the communities it serves, so our firm is honored to be recognized for our employees’ efforts.”
ARTBA’s Helping Hand Awards recognize corporate charitable giving programs that “strengthen, build and improve the quality of life and make a positive difference in their communities.”
In celebration of its centennial in 2014, many HNTB offices across the United States performed at least 100 hours of community service in recognition of the value HNTB and its employees place on the cities and towns where they live and work. HNTB volunteers participated in a wide variety of service events and activities, including working with the Society of Women Engineers, the Design-Build Institute of America, Heart of America United Way, Arlington National Cemetery, Habitat for Humanity and New York City Office of Sandy Recovery Services.
In all, the year-long effort yielded nearly 10,000 volunteer hours, impacting more than 100 local organizations, charities and causes. In many cases, HNTB employees worked side-by-side with family members and even clients on projects.
