Hobby Express Names Kurt Cleveland as President
Brentwood, Tenn. (PRWEB) December 30, 2013 -- Hobby Express (formerly hobby-lobby.com, now at hobbyexpress.com), a 50-year-old hobby store that sells radio control airplanes, helicopters, cars, boats and other hobby products in-store, by catalog and online is pleased to announce Kurt Cleveland as the company’s new president.
Kurt Cleveland has worked with Hobby Express since 2008 when the company (then known as Hobby Lobby International, Inc.) was purchased by his brother, Mark Cleveland. Kurt began work with the company as a technology consultant, but eventually transitioned into the role of chief information officer.
Entering its 50th year of business in 2014, Hobby Express provides radio control airplanes, helicopters, cars, boats, trains and the tools, paint and accessories that go along with them. Hobby Express is the proud innovator behind the Telemaster model airplane series, a staple at model fields around the world for more than 40 years.
“With deep experience in business information systems, business leadership and entrepreneurism, Kurt was the obvious choice for the job,” said Mark Cleveland, CEO and owner of Hobby Express. “When he first joined the team, Kurt was working from our Oregon hometown, but he’s now ready and excited to dedicate himself to Hobby Express full time here in Tennessee. As we continue to unveil new, innovative technology, I’m confident Kurt will be an asset in our growth.”
Previous to joining Hobby Express, Kurt served as president of Sentinel Edge, Inc., an access control and security business, as well as DolphinIO, Inc., where he provided messaging and television control solutions for county jails. Kurt also contributed more than thirteen years to Hewlett-Packard managing systems and engineering.
“Radio control technology and capabilities evolve constantly,” said Kurt Cleveland. “It’s my goal to keep Hobby Express on the leading edge of technology in order to continue to grow and deliver fun and excitement to every generation of RC enthusiast. I’m extremely excited to grow along with Hobby Express as we continue to help families and individuals alike have fun, build, repair and experience all that RCs have to offer.”
Kurt earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Information Systems from Linfield College.
