An ablative laser is considered the most effective treatment to improve signs of aging. However, the disadvantage of an ablative laser treatment is a fairly long recovery period of one to two weeks. By contrast, a non-ablative laser heats the outer layers of the skin but does not remove them, resulting in little or no downtime but requiring several treatments and ultimately achieving far less impressive results.
By combining both lasers, Halo laser therapy provides a previously impossible ability to deliver separate fractional laser treatments to the skin’s surface (epidermis) and deeper structures (dermis) at the same time. The treatment works by focusing energy on both the deeper and superficial layers of the skin. Halo offers results that are more similar to ablative laser treatments but with very little downtime, for the best of both worlds. And with the ability to independently target the epidermis and dermis, each treatment can be customized based on the patient’s unique needs and desired downtime.
