Hollywood Moguls Make More than Just Movies, They Make History in the Film, "Restoring Tomorrow"
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 03, 2016 -- Howling Wolf Productions and its co-founder Aaron Wolf hosted a private VIP event for its long-awaited latest film, “Restoring Tomorrow,” with an exclusive first-look preview screening and reception at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California.
Among the many dignitaries in attendance were business mogul and philanthropist Eli Broad, film critic Leonard Maltin, actors Michael Gross (“Family Ties,” “Tremors”) and Timothy Bottoms (“Paper Chase,” “The Last Picture Show,” "TAR") and Robert Bookman, senior motion picture agent with The Paradigm Agency.
“Restoring Tomorrow” follows the personal journey of Los Angeles-based director Aaron Wolf, as he documents the rise and fall and rise again of Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Los Angeles’ oldest and largest Jewish congregation, where his late grandfather, Rabbi Alfred Wolf, served for more than 50 years.
“This has been an extraordinary journey that opened my eyes to what I was missing and I hope opens other eyes as well,” Wolf said. “Like many younger adults, I wandered from my religion and from the place I grew up. On a very personal level, while making the film, I felt I was becoming something of a microcosm for my generation, as I came to rediscover the value of my roots and heritage. On a much larger scale, the Temple’s restoration has dramatically demonstrated what every community can achieve around the globe, if we dig down deep and remember who we are and what we stand for. Everyone has a past that can be restored to create a more meaningful tomorrow.”
“Restoring Tomorrow,” produced by Howling Wolf Productions co-founder Tim Nuttall, also documents the determination of Wilshire Boulevard Temple’s Senior Rabbi Steve Leder to achieve the impossible - raise $150 million to restore the majesty of the historic synagogue, which was built in 1929 by the legendary Hollywood studio moguls, including the Warner Brothers, Louis B. Mayor and Irving Thalberg, while also creating a vibrant religious center in the heart of Los Angeles, thus also restoring the surrounding community and the core of the city of Los Angeles.
Following the screening, Rabbi Leder said, “Most cultures have a story about someone searching for something, going on a journey to find it, and then returning home to discover that what they were searching for was actually in their home, hiding in plain sight. That classic folk tale plays out in real life through Aaron’s beautiful and moving documentary about the renovation and revitalization of Wilshire Boulevard Temple. Documenting the rebirth of one of America’s most magnificent religious structures and institutions also revitalized Aaron’s spirit. The fact that Aaron’s journey is a journey all of us take at some point in our lives was never more evident than tonight as most of the audience wiped tears from their eyes.”
After the screening, there was a Q&A with Rabbi Leder and Wolf, moderated by Maltin, who had this to say about the film, “Restoring Tomorrow is a genuinely inspiring film with a great story to tell. It documents the restoration of a historic building, but more than that it invites us to share in the re-commitment of a synagogue to its community. I found it very moving.”
“Restoring Tomorrow” will have a Hollywood premiere at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles on February 25, with a national roll-out to follow. For more information on the film and filmmakers, please visit http://www.restoringtomorrowfilm.com.
