Holy Cross Lutheran Academy Announces The Appointment of New High School Principal
(PRWEB) April 22, 2015 -- Shirley Geiss has been installed as the new principal for the new Holy Cross Lutheran Academy (HCLA) Upper School campus located in Sanford, Florida. Ms. Geiss has started her official duties to prepare for the 2015/2016 school year.
Geiss is a graduate of the University of Maryland and earned a Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She is state certified in education, exceptional student education, educational leadership and Florida Principal.
“We are very fortunate to have Shirley join the education team at Holy Cross Lutheran Academy,” said Betty Hoyer, Director of Education for HCLA. “Not only does she bring her vast experience to our campus, she brings a passion and commitment for education and a passion for Christ.”
Starting this fall, HCLA will expand its faith-based education offerings to include high school grades where Geiss will oversee the curriculum and the campus as it continues to expand into ninth grade this August. With Geiss’ guidance, Holy Cross Lutheran Academy plans to continue expanding the high school with the addition of a grade per year through grade 12.
The Upper School Campus in Sanford opened August 2014 to accommodate the fifth through the eighth grade middle school program and allow for the future expansion of the high school. Holy Cross Lutheran Academy is set to begin their high school program with the first ninth grade class starting this fall. Renovations including a Fine Arts Suite, Journalistic/Digital Media and STEM Lab are in progress at the Upper Campus to be ready for the August start of high school.

About Holy Cross Lutheran Academy:
Holy Cross Lutheran Academy (HCLA) is a Christ-centered community helping children and families to LIVE, LOVE, and LEARN. HCLA has high academic standards with a strong emphasis on arts and technology.
Holy Cross Lutheran Academy maintains a student ratio of 15:1, and offers an alternative to public education’s new Common Core standards. This allows children to be critical thinkers and enjoy a more flexible curriculum, especially in the higher grades.
HCLA began as a Preschool Story Time program of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in 1984. Since 1984, Holy Cross Lutheran Academy has added a full range of early childhood programs for children age one through pre-K. In 1999, HCLA developed an elementary program (K-4) and in 2008 a middle school program (5-8). This Fall 2015 HCLA will be adding high school.
Holy Cross Lutheran Academy is part of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, in which Lutheran schools in the United States can be traced back to the 1600’s. Today with over 3400 schools and early childhood centers, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod operates the second largest parochial school system in the nation. Because of their nature, Lutheran schools are not in competition with public schools, but rather offer parents an alternative where there is an emphasis on educating the whole child.
