Home Grown Gala A Success for Trillium Family Services
Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- The third annual Home Grown gala, benefiting Trillium Family Services, welcomed over 400 guests for an evening of amazing food and beverages from favorite venues throughout the state. The benefit was held on April 5th at the Portland Art Museum.
Food, dessert, and beverage sponsors supplied samples of their most delicious fare while guests mingled and perused art crafted by professional artists and children currently utilizing services at Trillium. A live presentation by four members of the local advocacy group, Voices, included the speakers' personal accounts of what it has been like to struggle with mental illness and the many experiences they have encountered through their journey to heal. The speakers highlighted how important quality services are to the treatment process and how programs provided by Trillium are essential to the overall success of our community’s youth. Emcee Chad Carter, from KOIN News, led the evening’s festivities and kept the lively momentum going as guests concluded the night with dancing to Portland's Hit Machine band.
“Having access to services that are supportive, empowering, and most importantly effective, is crucial to helping our youth, their families, and our communities heal. These services literally save lives and bring hope to people struggling to find their voice,” said Mike Larson, Trillium’s Board Treasurer and Co-founder of the Voices group. With this inspiring message, guests were compelled to respond to the evening’s call to action. A little over $210,000 was raised between individual donations and a matching $25,000 gift from the generous Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund.
All of the money raised will go toward Trillium’s therapeutic programs, which serve children and families throughout the state of Oregon. Services provided by Trillium include child and family therapy, child psychiatry, skills training, and nursing to some of Oregon’s most vulnerable children. Many clients in Trillium’s residential, day treatment, and outpatient programs struggle with intense mental illness and rely on the agency’s clinical expertise and use of evidence based interventions.
