Home Performance Coalition Names Brian T. Castelli as Chief Executive Officer
Pittsburgh, PA and Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- The board of directors of the Home Performance Coalition (HPC) announced today that its search for a chief executive officer has concluded and that Brian T. Castelli has been named to the position.
“Brian Castelli is a knowledgeable, experienced, and well-respected individual in the home performance and weatherization industry. He's a strategic thinker with exceptional vision and passion, and I couldn't be happier to announce his appointment as CEO,” said Steve Cowell, chairperson of HPC’s board of directors. “I have a longstanding relationship with Brian and have every confidence in his ability to lead HPC at this critical stage in its development, and to advance the industry as a whole.”
HPC was created in 2013 through the merger of Affordable Comfort, Inc. (ACI) and the National Home Performance Council (NHPC) to unite the many voices of the home performance and weatherization industry. Cowell noted that Castelli’s experience in both the public and private sectors made him an ideal candidate for the role of CEO.
Castelli brings 30 years of diverse and collaborative leadership experience with contractors, utilities, service providers, and government agencies to this position. As senior fellow at the Alliance to Save Energy, he specialized in international and federal energy management programs and oversaw team leaders in the organization’s buildings & utilities, industrial, development, education, international, and Building Codes Assistance Project departments. From 1994 to 2001, Castelli served as the presidentially appointed chief of staff to DOE’s assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy, managing 550 staff members and more than $1 billion in programs and research, development, and deployment initiatives. Prior to his time at DOE, Castelli served as deputy director for administration and public affairs, then as executive director, for the Pennsylvania Energy Office, where he became a strong supporter of—and was instrumental in securing funding for—the annual Affordable Comfort conference, which grew to become ACI’s signature educational event and is now known as the ACI National Home Performance Conference & Trade Show.
Castelli has served on the boards of directors of both ACI and NHPC and has been a board and advisory council member for numerous energy industry organizations. He has frequently been consulted on national energy policy and has testified before Congress and state and local legislatures.
“I feel as if I’ve come full circle, having been involved with both ACI and NHPC from their inception and now being chosen to lead the Home Performance Coalition at this exciting time,” Castelli said. “Residential energy efficiency is crucial to community and economic development and to environmental stewardship, and I look forward to collaborating with stakeholders throughout the industry—and in related industries—to continue to advance our shared mission.”
Castelli holds both a bachelor of science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Industrial/Environmental Management from the university’s Wharton School. As CEO, he will focus on HPC’s strategic development and on strengthening partnerships with industry stakeholders. Castelli will begin his tenure on Monday, August 4, 2014.
