Home Trends and Design Gets Its Hands Dirty for a Good Cause
Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 01, 2016 -- Last fall Home Trends & Design (HTD) unveiled the Mango Foundation, a global awareness initiative designed to give back to the environment, and help prevent further deforestation in the name of furniture manufacturing.
The Mango Foundation prides itself on planting a tree for every dining table made by HTD. According to co-founder and CEO of Home Trends & Design Hank Cravey, the Mango Foundation’s mission is to create responsible furniture designs by challenging the industry standard and revolutionizing the way furniture companies conduct business.
The Mango Foundation partners with Tree Folks in Austin to organize tree planting events and since the winter of 2015 there have been 420,000 seedlings planted in Central Texas. HTD employees regularly volunteer with the Mango Foundation at these tree planting events. What started as an expansion of HTD’s vision to better protect the environment, the Mango Foundation has grown into a larger initiative that challenges companies to use resources responsibly.
Being a co-founder of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, a coalition of furnishing companies that advocate for sustainable business practices, HTD has always lived by the core values of sustainability and high quality design. These principles provide HTD clients with furniture that is built to last generations, by using environmentally cognizant business practices. Clients know they had a helping hand in HTD’s larger mission of preserving our Earth for future generations.
“One of our biggest aspects of sustainability is using materials in a responsible way, so the Mango Foundation was a natural progression for us. The heirloom quality of our furniture means that these materials are being made into furniture that will last for generations,” Cravey said. “One thing that makes our company unique, and one of the reasons we have been successful, is our passion to build really great furniture which is a key element of sustainability. We built this business because of our passion, and we did not want to waste material in making inferior products.”
“As we take Mango Foundation to the next level, it is still going to be about planting trees, but it is also going to be about the societies where we are those planting trees,” Cravey said. The future is bright for the Mango Foundation as it sets its sights on expanding into India within the next year.
