Homely Hounds Sought for World's Ugliest Dog® Contest
PETALUMA, CA (PRWEB) June 07, 2017 -- Do you have a wonderful dog with it’s own unique features? Does your dog have too little hair, too many wrinkles or a big underbite? Organizers are looking for unique and loveable dogs to enter the World’s Ugliest Dog® Contest June 23 (deadline June 21). The Contest that has been a favorite for more than 50 years, is held at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, CA in front of adoring fans and international press.
“We’re proud to celebrate all dogs and pets by showing that no matter their imperfections, they are adoptable, lovable and a great addition to any family.” explains Erin Post, CEO of the Sonoma-Marin Fair.
The winner is awarded $1500, a trophy, and is flown to New York for media appearances. The Contest is sponsored by VIP Petcare, leading provider of preventative veterinary services. All dogs are required to provide proof of good health from their veterinarian and are examined immediately prior to the Contest by a veterinarian.
The Spirit Award, courtesy of Midway of Fun, is presented to a dog and owner who have overcome obstacles and/or are providing service to the community.
Judges for 2017 include long-standing head judge Brian Sobel communications consultant, NBC News and Today Show correspondent Kerry Saunders, and Paige Braddock, designer of the Snoopy US postage stamp, and Creative Director at Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates. The Contest is hosted by nationally syndicated morning radio hosts Bob & Sheri, whose amusing banter with the judges keeps the crowd entertained.
Entries must be received in the Sonoma-Marin Fair office no later than 5:00 p.m. Wednesday June 21, 2017. Entry applications are available at Sonoma-MarinFair.org/worlds-ugliest-dog.
