Honouring this year’s Halifax Ambassadors
Halifax, Nova Scotia (PRWEB) December 11, 2015 -- The collective efforts of this year’s Ambassadors and Spirit of Halifax recipient resulted in the hosting of 13 successful conferences with more than 13,000 delegates visiting Halifax in 2015.
"We are indebted to those who have put their hand up, praised Halifax to their colleagues and ultimately championed bringing a conference to our city. Their determination and pride is truly commendable and their efforts are making a difference,” said Ross Jefferson, President & CEO, Destination Halifax.
Destination Halifax presented the Spirit of Halifax Award to the volunteers of the Hal-Con Sci-Fi Fantasy Association, the biggest sci-fi convention in Atlantic Canada, for their past success as well as their continued efforts and enthusiasm. This year, the event attracted over 8,000 attendees.
“We're surprised, delighted, and humbled to be selected for this award. When we had our first event six years ago, we only hoped to break even and have a bit of fun. The community support has been overwhelming and has given us the chance to dream of becoming so much more. We are truly excited for what the future holds. Thank you so much for choosing us - it's a tremendous honour," said Jennifer Lambe, Chair, Director of Guest Relations & Sponsorship, Hal-Con, a Sci-Fi Fantasy Convention.
The Ambassador Program is an alliance of individuals and organizations who achieve economic growth for the Halifax region through the promotion of Halifax as a premier meetings and conventions destination. The program has been led by Destination Halifax since 2002.
