Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Senior Vice President Named to Liberty Science Center Board of Trustees
Newark, NJ (PRWEB) July 07, 2016 -- Liberty Science Center announced this week that Dr. Minal Patel, M.D, Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) has been elected to the Center’s Board of Trustees. Liberty Science Center is led by a veritable “Who’s Who” of area and national business leaders and philanthropists.
“I have a long history with Hudson County and deep roots in Jersey City,” said Patel, a newly named Managing Trustee. “I am thrilled to a part of the Liberty Science Center team. The Center is a shining example of education and innovation and I’m proud to come aboard at a time when the Center’s popularity is growing as quickly as its attendance.”
Dr. Patel moved to Hoboken in 1978 from the United Kingdom. From 1980 until 2000, Dr. Patel called the Heights of Jersey City his home where. In 2000, he moved to Weehawken where he lives today. Dr. Patel is an active member of the community serving on another non-profit board (The Hudson School) based in Hoboken.

In his role at Horizon BCBSNJ, Dr. Patel oversees strategy integration throughout the Enterprise, business development, informatics and analytics, and a unit that serves as the liaison to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
Dr. Patel is a graduate of Boston University’s six-year medical program, having received both his Bachelor's degree in Medical Sciences and his Doctorate in Medicine in 1995. Dr. Patel completed his medical residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. He joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School and the medical staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 1998. Dr. Patel completed his Masters in Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health in 2000.
