Hot Springs Village 4-Mile Competitive Run
Hot Springs Village, AR (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- Ready to get your heart pumping? Then sign up now for the first annual Dusk Scare, a 4-mile competitive run through the Ouachita Mountains scheduled for Sat., Nov. 2. Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, is hosting a special event for the outdoor enthusiast featuring activities held on nature trails throughout the Village.
Registration is now open for the 4-Mile Run on Hernando Trail West, a challenging course with natural wooded beauty. This is a USA Track & Field sanctioned run managed by DLT Events of Arkadelphia, with support from and in benefit of Teen Challenge of Arkansas, a non-profit organization. Athletics may register online at http://www.HSVZombieTrailRun.com. Both runners and walkers are welcome, but everyone must register.
Athletics are warned to keep a lookout along the trail for a couple of unnatural surprises – zombies!
“There is no better time to enjoy the trails than fall,” said Dannet Botkin, Marketing Director in Hot Springs Village. “Our community has 26 miles of natural, secluded trails. Volunteers from the Trails Committee and I wanted to invite everyone to come out and enjoy them this fall.”
This all-day affair kicks off at 8 a.m. with a Bird Watching Eco Walk on Magellan Beaver Dam Trail. Members of the Audubon Society will be on hand to point out birds and answer questions. A Geocaching Walk begins at 9 a.m. on Cedar Creek Trail. Participates will use their GPS handheld devices to discover hidden treasures.
Hernando Trail East will host the Cycling Fun Tour, a scenic bike ride from 9 to 11 a.m. This is not a race, but a leisurely trek so cyclists can enjoy the fall foliage along the trail. Cyclists have a choice on how far they ride from 5 miles up to 11.2 miles. Pre-registration is not required, simply sign in upon arrival.
Other family-fun events include a Dog Costume Parade on DeSoto Spillway Trail, coordinated by the Friends of the Dog Park, a Golf Cart Decoration Contest on Balboa Spillway Trail and a Segway Trail Ride on the DeSoto Marina Multipurpose Trail.
