San Luis Obispo, Ca. (PRWEB) December 17, 2014 -- According to the RunFreeSlo Facebook page, RunFreeSLO creates the space for personal transformation through a running support network. Running is a catalyst for personal change and a way to maintain long-term wellness. RunFreeSLO connects those who have experienced the challenges of addiction with the power of running. In addition to the physical and psychological health benefits associated with following a consistent running program, participants will learn how to handle setbacks, delay gratification, set goals, believe in and achieve success, get comfortable with routine and practice self-discipline. Furthermore, running has been shown to: reduce depression, treat addiction (coupled with other treatment strategies) and relieve chronic stress, as participants make healthy life choices that contribute to one’s own long-term wellness.
House of Bread Bakery Café has similar goals of promoting nutrition and wholesome natural baked goods as part of a healthier lifestyle. "House of Bread is excited to donate baked goods to the RunFreeSlo participants as our good carbs will go a long ways towards properly fueling a good run," states Sheila McCann
Before Ms. McCann started House of Bread in 1996, she was a public defender for six years. "I personally saw that the large majority of my clients committed crimes while being influenced by drug and alchohol," states Ms. McCann. She goes on to say, "I see introducing people challenged with these awful additctions to exercise, good food and a strong support network as something House of Bread can fully support"
Look for 5k run announcements coming in January. For more information on RunFreeSLO, please go to their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Run-Free-SLO/660855737354825?sk=info&tab=page_info.
